What we collect, and what we do with it

What we collect when you sign

• Your name and email. Both required. Your name is the signature.
• Your street address and ZIP, if you give them. Both optional. An address near Prosper is what makes a signature count with the Town.
• The boxes you check. Whether you want a reminder email. Whether you would speak at a hearing, give your time to another speaker, or have skills that could help.

What the site records on its own

• A scrambled copy of your IP address. We store the scrambled version. We never store the real one. It stops one person, or one script, from signing a thousand times. The scrambling runs one way only. Nobody can turn it back into your address. We never show it to anyone or include it in an export.
• Which browser you used. Same reason.

What we never do

• We run no ads. We run no analytics. We set no tracking cookies.
• We never sell, rent, trade, or share what you give us. Not with a campaign. Not with a party. Not with anyone.
• We never post your email or your street address.

Two things you should know

This site gets its type from Google Fonts. So Google's servers see your IP address when the page loads. Most of the web works this way.

The site also saves a small note inside your own browser. It remembers that you signed, so the page stops asking. That note stays on your device.

Who else sees it

We give the Town of Prosper your name and the part of town you live in. That is the point of signing. A petition nobody turns in does nothing. We do not give the Town your email or your full street address.

Anything handed to the Town becomes a public record. Under the Texas Public Information Act, any member of the public can ask to see it. That includes the developer and its lawyers. The Town cannot change that rule, and neither can we.

Would you rather keep your name out of a public record? Then skip the petition. You can still speak at the hearing, or write to the Town yourself.

Email

We email you only if you checked the box. That means one reminder before the September 1 meeting. Then word of any meeting after that. Nothing else, ever.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also just email us, and we take you off the list the same day.

Your rights under Texas law

The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act gives Texans real rights. You can ask what we hold about you. You can correct it. You can delete it. You can get a copy.

We honor all four. The law may not even reach a volunteer group this small. We honor them anyway.

Email privacy@zonewisely.com and tell us what you want done. We answer within 45 days, and usually within two. If we say no, you can reply and ask us to look again. You can also complain to the Texas Attorney General.

How long we keep it

Until the case is over, plus the time it could still be appealed or filed again. Then we delete the whole list. Ask us to delete your row sooner and we will. It does not come back.

Security

Signatures live in a Cloudflare database. Only the organizers can reach it. The site runs over HTTPS. The list can be exported only with a secret key, and search engines are told to skip it.

We built this with care. No system is ever perfectly safe, and we would rather say that than promise otherwise.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We do not set out to collect anything from a child under 13. If a child signed, email us and we will remove the row.

Changes

If this policy changes, we change the date at the top. If the change affects what we do with what you already gave us, we email the people it affects.
